Orlando and Disney World Florida

Told ironically, 30 years ago Orlando was an agricultural town in the heart of peninsular Florida. Nowadays Orlando is visited by more people than any other place in the world. Most of the visitors come through Disney World only, or they eventually visit International Drive that is 5miles to the south-west off the downtown of Orlando; it is a wide boulevard full of hotels, shopping centres and restaurants. No doubt it was Walt Disney World, a group of the most modern thematic parks of acreage in 70 sq. km that brought suddent giant changes to the whole area. Among a number of doubtful pseudo-tourist targets only Universal Studios and Sea World Orlando that can compete with the best implemented project of rest getaways in the world. The real life opens for you on the north from Orlando in the shape of highly mild Victorian town Mount Dora and hidden village Casadaga tenanted by spiritualists almost without an exception.

Orlando is in its own accord a significant town with a compact downtown, a few high-rise buildings, ostentatious residential quarters and with a few worthy museums and galleries, a number of antique shops and the best night-clubs in central Florida.

Accommodation

The biggest factor while choosing a facility is the location and price. If you do not have your own vehicle, we recommed you to accommodate in International Drive or nearby area, or eventually find one of the private hotels and B&Bs in the downtown of Orlando – both areas offer a well-organised system of public transport. You can also stay in a accommodation offered by Disney World and Universal Orlando but you can expect much higher prices. The cheapest accommodation is on US-192 with 50 USD/room/night.

Dining

If you stay away from the thematic parks, you will find affordable meal with ease in. The downtown of Orlando offers you a wide palette of meals, during days prices are kept low and at nights many of the elegant and more expensive restaurants liven up. Larger selection of food is on International Drive but it also brings more tourists and less privacy. On US – 192 there are many buffets and fast food restaurants. Do not forget to use many of the food discount vouchers offerd in tourist magazines. If using them, they can noticeably decrease the final price.

Nightlife

With its higher and higher number of bars, restaurants and nightclubs that have changed the Orlando downtown in a high-spirited centre of nightlife , Orlando can be nominated as the second best city in Florida, right after Miami. The liveliest places are on Orange Avenue. Disney Parks and Universal built their own bars and restaurants that might create a feeling of prettyism when compared to bars and restaurants in the downtown of Orlando.
